About the role
This role is an exciting opportunity to join our high-performing Legal department, reporting to our US General Counsel.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong ethical and business judgment and a willingness to approach tasks with enthusiasm and a strong sense of ownership.
Your Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of complex commercial agreements
- Distill complex legal matters into clear, succinct guidance to key stakeholders on topics such as commercial, product development, marketing and privacy issues
- Proactively monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory and enforcement developments within the areas of e-commerce, consumer law, U.S. data protection, and technology law
- Apply sound judgement to manage and resolve time-sensitive requests from key internal stakeholders
- Collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders
- Directly support our Compliance team with day-to-day data privacy-related matters
- Develop and refine internal policies, templates, and other tools to improve efficiency within the legal department
Qualifications
- J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and active member in good standing in at least one U.S. state
- 2-4 years of substantive contract drafting and negotiating experience. In-house experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Preferred areas of experience:
- SaaS/technology commercial contracting
- Familiarity with global data privacy laws and regulations including CCPA and GDPR
- M&A experience is a plus
- Background in finance, technology or software is a plus
- Experience working with a global business is a plus
- Outsourcing, financial services, or SaaS contracting experience a plus
- Experience working with an international team is preferred
- Sound understanding of global e-commerce laws
- Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to work on routine as well as non-standard transactions
- Sharp business judgment and instincts, with an ability to advise quickly
- Exceptional writing, communication, and analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail
- Proven ability to efficiently manage multiple concurrent transactions
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $100,000 to $140,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Cleverbridge is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications, and other business requirements/needs.
